Important Announcement
THIS IS NOT!!!! THE ORIGINAL RATBIKE.ORG, BUT AN ARCHIVE FOR THOSE WHO CAN'T LIVE WITHOUT IT.
ZXR750, winner of "Best Sports Rat" at the 2001 Rat & Survival Bike Show
It's tough having to earn a crust as well as dreaming up improbable
modifications for your next Rat project!
Anyway, the story so far:
ZXR750H1 bought off best mate as a gleaming stocker with only 6K on the clock. Ridden to work for about 3 months before I got pissed off with the clipon bars. Took off fairing and fitted straight drag bars. Sold gleaming stock body kit to raise funds for welding equipment. Ran round with tatty bodywork for some time, kept getting strange, puzzled looks from anyone who came near the bike!
Went to the hardware store and purchased a tin of exterior MATT BLACK Yee Har!!!!!!! Decided to go the whole 9 yards and restyled the front end to what you see now, using an extra headlamp found in the shed, a GSX750 front guard cut in two and bolted together. And a CBR1000 flip up screen turned upside down. Impressed myself with that one!
Decided to remodel the rear end using an XT250 tailpiece that was rescued from a skip, and a seat made from 16 gauge mild steel, cut shut and welded to resemble a tractor seat. The whole lot being mounted on a home fabricated subframe.
This is pretty much the story to date and this was how it appeared at RAT + SURVIVAL 2001 and STALYBRIDGE MCC show 2001. I can safely say that I have never had such a laugh, as I have, when riding the bike as it is now.
GSXR1000 ? PAH !!! "GET YOURSELF NOTICED, RIDE A RAT BIKE"!
