Rhino Glide

  Important Announcement

THIS IS NOT!!!! THE ORIGINAL RATBIKE.ORG, BUT AN ARCHIVE FOR THOSE WHO CAN'T LIVE WITHOUT IT.

Hey y'all,
I'm an avid reader of the Rat Bike Zone and I can't tell you how much I get out of it. Your coverage is great and I'm glad to see that you've added a ''custom'' page. I'm looking for a bike that I can turn into a full retro Rat with red wheels, white sidewalls and old school pin stripping. Until the , I'm sending you pictures of my present ride.

I realize that my ''Rhino-Glide'' can't be considered a full rat bike yet, but I'm on my way. What you see is a 1998 Honda Shadow ACE that has been completely coated with the popular bed liner. The only things that were bought new for her were the seat and the highway bars.Everything else was made out of stuff that was laying around the shed, "ACE" hardware store or picked up at swap meets and garage sales. The most notable being the FLH Fairing, $20.00 at a swap meet, but had no mounting brackets. The driving lights came from Wal-Mart for $7.97 each & I mounted them with book shelf brackets $1.79 each. Floorboards are made from plywood, covered with non-skid paint and fringe from a craft shop. They're mounted to the foot pegs with pipe brackets that cost $.39 each. The handle bars are from a Harley Dyna Wide Glide and were picked up for $5.00. I mounted a Rhino (cow) horn on the front fender for effect. Two horns are better than one. The sheepskin seat cover was another flea market find for a couple of bucks. Most of the chrome is starting to rust, so it won't be too long before the shine turns to flat black.
