   Important Announcement

After a long, long sojourn in Hospital, the Wife said it was about time I
got a bike again, to cheer me up. The only problem was, complete lack of
cash! After a bit of searching, and making enquiries, a friend of mine
said his neighbour was getting rid of a non-running pile of shite that had
been in his shed for a few years. 25 quid later, a rather cosmetically
challenged 1979 Superdream was in the back of my mates van, and heading
back to my house. I put a battery on it, found a snapped wire in the
harness, soldered it, and it fired up straight away! Long story short, I
replaced the rotten exhausts (from a scrap yard), replaced some very rusty
bolts and split pins, fitted front brake pads, mixed up all the tins of
paint that were going hard in my shed, and slapped on the camo pattern
that you can see in the pictures. I got some funny looks at the M.O.T.
Station, but it passed! Just found a Wilkinsons that still has Barbeque
Matt Black paint in stock, (It's gone from most of them till next Summer)
so I can finish the exhausts and engine block off. I've only done a couple
of hundred miles on it, as I'm still not fully fit, but the Kids bought me
a full waterproof camo suit from one of the advertisers on your site, to
enable me to ride it right through the Winter. (Yes, I'm getting soft in
my old age) I'm really looking forward to it, as a bit of salt and road
muck should give it a bit more character. Just goes to show, if you have
patience, and keep asking around, you can get on the road on a budget.

	P.S.:
I made the cissy bar out of the metal poles that they hold tape round road
works with. A bit of rough d.i.y. electric welding, a pad from one of
these get-fit-by-sit-up machines, and the wife isn't frightened to ride
pillion anymore! She also entered into the spirit of the build, and bought
the plastic rat, reflectors, and other accoutrements for me.
