I have been talking about building a bike for several years now, and since I sold my Buell last year the itch has been ever increasing.
I picked up this 1975 CB500T for US$575, took it home and had it running in a couple of hours, all the lights work, it ran good
but the carbs needed a rebuild. I used 2' seamless rolled tubing for the neck and seat post, frame is 1' seamless tube and the dropouts
are 3/16'. The frame was hand bent with a torch and a hydraulic press, stretched about a foot and lowered 2 1/2'. Everything useable
has been scavenged off the original bike, The foot pedals came out of a 82 Datsun 280ZX. The original top triples were broke so I found
a donor off of a 71 CB750. Gas tank is a 73/74 Indian ME125, $27. ebay special. I had to buy the brass knuckles for the jockey shift as
I didnt have any spares laying around!
The build as a whole has cost about $1,500. The most expensive items were the motorcyle, Avon tires,
the rolled tubing and the K&N air filters and all the fuses I have been blowing trying to get it wired out.
Important Announcement
THIS IS NOT!!!! THE ORIGINAL RATBIKE.ORG, BUT AN ARCHIVE FOR THOSE WHO CAN'T LIVE WITHOUT IT.
I dont know if it fits the definition of 'rat' cause its really more of a chopper, but she will rust before she gets any paint. I have
built it to ride and thats what I'm going to do, ride the piss out of it!
