you may be interested in the attached pictures of a bike I bought in 1976, a Matchless / AJS 350cc single. The engine was made from at least two different ones, of different years. One side of the engine said Matchless and had a magneto for the ignition. The other side said AJS and had an alternator for the lights. No battery or regulator, so bulbs did not last long. The exhaust was finished in rust and burnt oil, the rest of the black paint was just old. Carb was off a triumph trident (don't know why), smaller than the original, so top speed was 55mph. No damping in front forks, so the ride was interesting. Note the seat attached with a bungee.
